Frequently Asked Questions…
What type of coaching do you do?
I am a Transformational Coach. I love to sit with my clients as they explore WHO they want to BE. In the leadership setting, this might sound like, “I want to be more calm”, or “a better listener,” or “a better communicator.” It also sounds like, “I have lost my sense of SELF. I don’t know who I am anymore” or “I used to be….” or “I feel a longing inside of me but I can’t quite put my finger on it.”
What do you love about coaching?
What I love about coaching is that I believe with all of my being that we hold our answers within. I love that coaching is non-advice giving, that we see the other as deeply capable, resourceful and whole. I love that by holding space for my clients, I can see that light within, mirror it back to them until they embody it themselves. I feel deeply honoured, humbled and grateful every day to witness the wisdom my clients share in our sessions. It is certainly a sacred space.
How much do you charge?
My fees are currently $200/hr for 1:1 coaching, Mentor Coaching, and Executive Coaching.
I offer a 10% discount when a client chooses to pay for 4 or more sessions at a time.
What do you charge for Mentor Coaching?
I charge $2000 for the full 10 hour Mentorship Package. Should you require less mentorship hours, I am happy to help you fill that requirement for $200/hour with permission from ICF.
How often do you meet with your clients?
I recommend meeting once a week. The reason for that is because it takes a lot of attention when we are first creating change and shifts in being. Our neural pathways are like freeways; fast, clear and easy to access. When we create new ways of thinking it is like creating a trail in a jungle. It can feel slow going. SO, if we meet every other week, there is more opportunity for your brain to get back on the freeway so to speak. Meeting every week increases momentum and lots of awareness around where you are wanting to change.
If you book every other week and miss a session it might take us a month to connect and it can feel more ‘sluggish’. When we schedule every week and you need to cancel a session, it doesn’t feel so disconnected.
That being said, I want to honour what feels right for you, so we can talk about your specific intentions regarding what you want to take away from your journey and we will come up with a plan that is right for you.
As far as how LONG I work with someone, I find 10 sessions is a great starting point. From there, many choose to continue working with me bi-weekly. When a client feels ready to move on, we often connect a couple times a year or when they need a check-in. I have had clients work with me for one session and I have clients work with me for years. It depends on what’s right for YOU.
Did Brené Brown train you?
Ha! I get asked that question A LOT. And my answer is I WISH! (Just kidding), The Daring Way™ organization has grown in such a way that there are trained Facilitators who guide candidates through the curriculum. Both my Facilitator in my Daring Way™ training and my Daring Way™ Mentor were AMAZING. I am deeply grateful to both Nancy Schornack and Susan Mann for their support.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Although both modalities can support someone who wants to get more out of life, therapists can work with those who are dealing with mental health conditions, substance abuse issues and trauma. Coaches work with those that are basically healthy and functional but want to fulfill a higher potential. That being said, past issues often come up in sessions and are often necessary to examine in order to move forward. They can help you discover where some of your beliefs are coming from in order to decide if they are still serving you. As we uncover underlying-beliefs and create the space and awareness for your inner knowing to have a voice, you may feel like you were in a therapy session. It is not uncommon for me to remind clients that coaching is not therapy but it can be very therapeutic.
Isn't life coaching expensive?
I understand that it’s an investment. A lot of coaches require you to pay for the whole package up front but I don’t believe that’s necessary. Like any other helping professional you can pay me after each session. I also provide a sliding scale based on household income for one of my clients at a time. We can discuss if this would be the right fit for you and what fee works for your finances.
I also invite you to think about other areas of your life you invest money in. What would happen if you invested in yourself like you do these other things? Some of my clients do prefer to pay for their entire coaching package in advance but if they are unhappy for any reason, I offer a full discount of remaining sessions minus 10% administration fee. So you don’t have to worry about investing and finding out this wasn’t for you. Furthermore, paid sessions don’t expire. I will be sure to let you know if that changes but in the meantime, you don’t have to worry about paying for sessions and not using them up. Lastly, what is the cost if you DON’T change?
I'm busy. Will coaching fit in with my life?
I get it!! Life can be crazy. What I have found is that as I have made my self-care, more of a priority (and by self-care I mean reflection, mindfulness, breath, and increased self-awareness), it actually feels like I have MORE time. I’m not sure if it’s because my brain isn’t as squirrely or that I have more tools to set priorities, boundaries and ask for what I need. I guess it's both! You have no idea how many times I have heard from clients that they have no idea why they waited for so long to do something like this for themselves and how they see the positive ripple effect in all areas of their lives.
How can I tell if you're the right coach for me?
Making sure you hire a coach that’s right for you is ESSENTIAL. I want to make sure that we are a good fit. A successful coaching relationship is based on confidentiality and TRUST. I want to make sure that you feel safe and held in my company. If you need to schedule more time with me to get to know me, PLEASE DO! Email me questions at any time or bring them to a call. I want you to feel comfortable and well informed about me, my style, and what we can expect from each other and this journey we may go on together. I feel deeply honoured and privileged to hold space for my clients and I don’t take this privilege lightly. I respect and honour your choices and will do my utmost to support you in making the best decision for you.
If you are a potential mentee client, it’s actually my JOB to invite you to interview at least 3 Mentor Coaches. It is important that you find the right fit for you. I will say that I am a Certified Mentor Coach and that I have clear outlines as to what you can expect of the mentorship journey. I WANT you to be as successful as possible so we will have a discovery call to get to know each other and I will share with you more about me, my journey and how I hold space for the mentorship journey. Be sure to bring to a call any questions you have for me and if more come up afterwards, you can always email me or we can set up another meeting.
I'm a very private person. Is there a place for me in your group programs?
In my group programs, I spend a significant amount of time setting the container from which we will do our work. We talk about what we need and what we want to ask from one another. Confidentiality and safety are my top priorities and we spend a LOT of time talking about what this means and how we can hold space for one another in a way that respects each person’s needs and boundaries. If being in a group feels too vulnerable for you, we can always talk about doing this work one-on-one. I can provide you with the material and we can debrief each week on your process and discoveries.
