Wishing you a Very Merry Half-assed Holiday

I just finished reading this brilliant article by Christine Carter, which for me, really pointed to how being a perfectionist can be debilitating. As a recovering perfectionist, I could completely relate.

In order to unleash creativity, joy, happiness and fun you need to LET GO! Letting go allows for the organic, spontaneous magic to flourish. And there is no better time that the Holiday Season to practice this.

Imagine letting go of the feeling that your house isn't clean enough, the food isn't good enough and you aren't getting enough accomplished. Sit. Close your eyes and imagine the opposite. Your house is messy and full of love, your food is simple and nourishing, you are doing the best you can and that is perfect. Ahh, what a relief!

And what possibility! The brain power that perfectionism sucks out of us is enough to push us overboard, but in addition to the extra mental peace and clarity, imagine the time that we free up by choosing something different! All of a sudden, there is time to sit and enjoy a cup of tea with a friend, make that call to a special someone or simply take care of yourself.

Now, the letting go part can be challenging and it is important to acknowledge that this isn't always as easy as it sounds. What does 'letting go' even mean? You just stop being who you were and start something new? It is important that you take the time to notice how hard and even painful it can be to let go of how you did things in the past, and gently explore what would serve you better moving forward.

That's why, this year I have created The Happy Holiday Sisterhood. I am holding space for women to gather once a week on line to feel the relief and sanity that comes with the community of like-minded women. Together, we will let go of our inner control freak, and embrace a perfect, half-assed holiday!

If you want to join a tribe of heart-centred women who courageously choose more meaningful and simple solutions to holiday overwhelm then this is the group for you!

Registration is open and we start at the end of November!

Hope to see you then!

With love,
Cate
